Act 3 Walkthrough

Act 3 is the final chapter of a Sovereign Tower run. The King Slayer is defeated, the Spectral Eye is in hand, and your kingdom stands at the threshold of either empire or destruction. Wild Wits designed Act 3 to compress — the wide-open exploration of Act 2 gives way to a tighter sequence of consequential decisions that directly prepare for the Cycle 45 Emperor ultimatum. This walkthrough covers late-game scheduling, the Arthur confrontation, Victoria’s trials, the Golden Key decision, and how to exit Act 3 with the party composition needed for your chosen ending.

This page assumes you have completed the King Slayer and are transitioning from Act 2. If you are still in Act 2, finish the Dragon Knight, murder plotline, and King Slayer before reading further.

Act 3 structure overview

Act 3 is organized around three parallel tracks that converge at Cycle 45:

TrackWhat it involvesTime pressure
County completionFinishing the last county alliancesCycles 1–15 of Act 3
Character routesVictoria trials, Epicr, late knight personal questsCycles 5–25 of Act 3
Finale preparationArthur confrontation, Golden Key, party buildingCycles 20–40 of Act 3

Act 3 ends at Cycle 45 regardless of how much you have completed. The Emperor ultimatum does not wait for unfinished optional routes.

County completion and why it matters

Completing county alliances in Act 3 matters for two reasons:

  1. Golden Key Method 1 requires ten allied counties. If you are pursuing this method, every remaining county alliance must be completed in Act 3.
  2. Ending variety — the Peace ending with Victoria requires her on the roster. The Extended War ending requires the World Domination quest. These require county work.

County completion in Act 3 follows the same rules as Act 2 — accept quests, assign knights, manage faction standing. The difference is that your Round Table is now fully populated with strong knights, so assignment efficiency should be higher.

The Alliances guide covers specific county route details.

Victoria and Epicrate

Victoria and Epicrate (Epicr) are the two late-game exclusive knights. Victoria is particularly important — having her on the roster at Cycle 45 unlocks the Peace Treaty ending without a final battle quest, which is significantly easier than the alternative.

Victoria’s recruitment involves:

  • Completing her personal quest chain in Act 2 and Act 3.
  • Maintaining sufficient Merchants standing (her faction alignment).
  • Resolving the Victoria’s Ambush card correctly (fixed in Patch 1.0.10 — she no longer ambushes herself).

The How to Get Victoria guide covers her full recruitment sequence. Start it early in Act 3 — late Act 3 Victoria recruitment can conflict with Arthur timing.

Epicr is recruited through a separate late Act 3 chain that involves the Dragon Knight’s aftermath and Scholarly faction standing. The King Slayer page mentions Epicr’s requirements in context.

The Arthur confrontation

Arthur is the penultimate challenge before the Emperor ultimatum. He appears as a major quest figure in late Act 3 with his own confrontation sequence.

Arthur’s confrontation requires:

  • A party of 6 knights minimum.
  • Specific stat thresholds (check the quest card for current numbers — requirements vary slightly between runs).
  • The Spectral Eye item from King Slayer (+3 Magic).
  • The Glass Blade from Key Items (nearly mandatory for the final fight).

The Arthur Walkthrough covers the exact confrontation sequence. Key preparation note: Arthur is not a pure combat check. Your sovereign archetype and prior choices affect which dialogue options are available during the confrontation. A Wise sovereign has more negotiation paths than a Tyrannic one.

Golden Key — Act 3 decision point

By mid-Act 3, you should know which Golden Key method you are pursuing:

Method 1 — Arlin’s legend (ten counties):

  • Confirm you have allied ten counties.
  • Trigger Arlin’s audience after the tenth alliance.
  • Accept the legend quest, send five knights to Almora for three cycles.
  • Ensure combined stats meet requirements: STR 7, AGI 11, WITS 14, LCK 6.

Method 2 — Angelica’s tea party (zero deaths):

  • Confirm no knight has died on this save.
  • Reach Cycle 34 or later with Angelica on the Round Table.
  • Trigger the lower-left cycle cutscene mentioning the Key.
  • Ask “Where was it?” then “Ask the man nicely.”

Both methods are challenging. Method 2 is harder to recover from if you break the zero-death condition late.

Building the final party

The Emperor ultimatum at Cycle 45 requires a specific party composition depending on your ending choice:

EndingParty requirementNotes
War6 knights, STR 15, AGI 11, MAG 7, WIT 4, LCK 4Standard final battle
Extended War6 knights, STR 15, AGI 12 (needs Golden Key + World Domination)Longer, bloodier epilogue
Peace (Victoria)No final quest if Victoria is on rosterEasiest ending path
Peace (no Victoria)8 knights, tournament quest (STR 12, AGI 8, CHA 11, MAG 6, WIT 3, LCK 3)Harder than with Victoria
MarriageAudacious archetype, Victoria on roster recommendedNo final quest
SurrenderKind or Wise archetypeNo final quest

Do not pre-build your party based on generic guides. Wait until the exact quest card appears in Act 3, then build to those specific requirements. The numbers above are community-verified baselines but the in-game card is authoritative.

Act 3 scheduling principles

The most important Act 3 scheduling principle: stop starting new routes when Cycle 35 arrives. The final ten cycles must be reserved for:

  1. Arthur confrontation.
  2. Golden Key resolution (if pursuing Method 1).
  3. Final party preparation — equipment, repairs, mount assignments.
  4. Any remaining county alliances needed for Method 1.

Optional content that can be deferred to NG+:

  • Epicr recruitment (if Victoria is secured).
  • Minor county routes that do not affect the Golden Key.
  • Knight personal quests for characters whose endings you do not need.

The Cycle 45 Emperor ultimatum

At Cycle 45, the Emperor presents an ultimatum. Your available options depend on:

  1. Dominant sovereign archetype — Audacious, Wise, Kind, Tyrannic, or balanced.
  2. Golden Key status — held, given to Emperor, or never obtained.
  3. Victoria’s presence — on roster or not.
  4. Prior choices — specific flags from Act 2 and Act 3 that unlock dialogue options.

The Endings Guide and Sovereign Archetypes pages cover the full ultimatum table and option unlock conditions.

The Character Endings page covers the slides that play after the main ending — which knights get slides depends on who is on your Round Table at the end.

Demon Power and corruption in Act 3

If you have been counting Demon rewinds, Act 3 is where that count matters most. The Demon Power ending epilogue plays after the main Cycle 45 close:

  • 0 rewinds — no Demon Power epilogue.
  • 1–19 rewinds — lighter corruption version.
  • 20+ rewinds — lighter version plus a darker second scene.

If you want the full Demon Power experience, 20+ rewinds is achievable through Act 3 if you rewind for every crisis. If you want a clean first reign, keep rewinds below 20.

NG+ and Act 3

After the credits, New Game Plus lets you carry knowledge into a second reign. NG+ is where you pursue:

  • Alternate endings (Marriage, Surrender, Extended War).
  • Zero-death Angelica tea party if you broke it in run one.
  • Brunhilda or other secret knights you missed.

Patch 1.0.10 repaired NG+ dialogue collisions for Gideon, Ligia, Gothild, Elmor, and Kutnar Derby.

Act 3 is where your reign becomes history. The decisions you make here are the ones the Demon reads back to you at Cycle 45.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

When does Act 3 begin in Sovereign Tower?

Act 3 begins after completing the King Slayer quest and receiving the Spectral Eye reward. The transition is marked by the final Act 3 countdown toward Cycle 45.

Is Victoria necessary for a good ending?

Victoria is not required, but having her on the roster makes the Peace ending significantly easier — no final battle quest triggers if Victoria is present. This is the strongest argument for prioritizing her recruitment.

How many counties do I need to ally for the Golden Key?

Ten counties for Method 1 (Arlin's legend). Method 2 (Angelica's tea party) requires zero knight deaths and reaching Cycle 34 with Angelica on the Round Table.

What is the minimum party size for the Emperor ultimatum?

The War ending needs 6 knights minimum. The Peace ending without Victoria needs 8 knights for the tournament quest. Build your party based on the specific quest card, not generic minimums.

Can I complete all of Act 3 content in one run?

No. Act 3 has more optional content than one run can cover. Prioritize Victoria, Golden Key, and Arthur. Defer Epicr and minor county routes to NG+.
